What is Liana?

Liana is a Bitcoin-only wallet built to make advanced Bitcoin security accessible to everyday users, not just technical experts. It uses timelocks for recovery, ensuring you never permanently lose access to your coins. For example, you can set up a primary key for daily spending and a backup key that becomes usable after a certain time (e.g., 3 months), ideal for inheritance or accidental key loss. You can require multiple keys to authorize transactions (multisig), adding an extra layer of security.

The timelock feature makes Liana particularly useful for inheritance scenarios, ensuring your Bitcoin can be recovered by designated beneficiaries if something happens to you. The inheritance process is straightforward and does not require anything technical, you heir only has to plug in their signing device (hardware wallet) in a computer where Liana is installed. Liana works on Windows, MacOS and Linux, so any computer works! Liana timelocks are enforced by the bitcoin network, there is no trusted third party involved. It will work as long as Bitcoin exists.

More flexible and safer setups such as the expanding and decaying multisig pioneered by Liana allow for both higher security and lower risk of loss compared to a traditional 2-of-3 multisig. This is particularly useful for large wallets and organizations where security cannot be compromized on. Advanced multi-signature is plug-and-play in Liana, without added complexity.
