Liana multiwallet is here! You can now use Liana with multiple different wallets simultaneously! Users now have access to coin control features during recovery. Also, we’ve added support for using Coldcard and Krux signers with SD cards and much more.
Note that the internal structure of Liana’s data directory has been updated in this release in such a way that previous versions of Liana will no longer work on a wallet that has been created using v11.
Multiwallet
Users can now open multiple wallets with the same Liana instance. On starting Liana v11, users who have already opened a wallet are now able to select “Add wallet” to add a new wallet to their Liana instance.
Added wallets can be newly created wallets or imported wallets. Adding a wallet takes you through the normal Liana Wallet creation/import flows. Different wallets can use different node backends (for instance, a user can use the one-click node installation to run their own node locally for family wallets, and use Liana Connect for a business wallet that benefits from coordination between multiple parties who are not in the same location).
Each new wallet opens in its own window. Users can have more than one wallet open at a time: simply start Liana Wallet again and select the wallet you’d like to open.
When creating additional wallets, users who are using the same hardware signers across multiple wallets are also able to specify an alternate derivation path by selecting a different “Account” during the wallet creation process.
This new multiwallet functionality greatly increases the flexibility of Liana Wallet and allows users to easily send funds between different wallets they control.
Coin control now included in recovery flow
Making recovery easier for heirs and family is a priority for Liana Wallet. We’ve made several changes to our recovery process that allow for more flexibility and ease-of-use.
Users now have full coin control for recovery transactions so they can easily select different recipients or make more fine-grained choices about consolidation decisions for the coins in the wallet they are recovering.
Coin control during the recovery process also enables users to more easily “practice” the recovery flow with their heirs using only selected UTXOs in their wallet. It’s a great way to familiarize heirs with Liana’s recovery tools and build confidence in your Bitcoin inheritance plan.
SD Card air gap support for Coldcard and Krux
With v11, Liana Wallet now supports importing xpubs from file and import/export of PSBTs to and from file. This allows users to interact with Coldcard and Krux signing devices entirely via SD cards to preserve air gapping of those devices.
To import an xpub from their device (e.g. Coldcard or Krux) via SD card, users can choose “Enter/Import an extended public key” after selecting a template during the wallet creation flow. This allows users to preserve an air gap between a hardware signing device that holds their private keys and their online Liana instance.
When creating a PSBT, users can now choose to export the PSBT to a file. Users are also now able to load the PSBT from file.
This also makes it official: in addition to Ledger, Bitbox, SpecterDIY, Jade, and Coldcard, you can now use Liana Wallet with Krux signers!
View all unused generated addresses
The Recieve panel now includes an easy way to see the unused addresses your wallet has already generated.
Simply click on the Receive tab from the home menu and then expand the “Previously generated addresses still awaiting deposit” button. A list of unused addresses will appear with their labels. Select any address to see details, display a QR, verify on hardware device, or edit the labels.
This is particularly handy for users who want to pre-generate and label addresses for specific uses.
Updates to Bitcoin Core v29.0 and other improvements
Liana helps users run their own node with an easy, one-click install process to set up Bitcoin Core. Liana v11 updates the installed version of Bitcoin Core to v29.0. You’ve got absolutely no excuse for not running a node.
When selecting signing devices for signing transactions or otherwise, those devices that are not relevant to the wallet or to the particular spending path being used for a transaction will be greyed out with a corresponding message.
As users draft a transaction, the total fee is now shown alongside the feerate to better help users understand the transaction cost.
