We’re excited to announce the release of Liana v15, a release focused on visual coherence and polish across the interface. This version continues the UI rework started in v14 and extends it to every major panel and a broad set of individual components, cleaning up inconsistencies and aligning the look and feel throughout the app. We’re also upgrading to iced 0.14 in the same release, a significant dependency upgrade that touches a large portion of the codebase.
Alongside the main release, Liana Business ships its first polished release with v1.0, a milestone we’re proud of.
🎨 A Broad UI Overhaul: Coherence and Polish
This release reworks the home, receive, and spend panels, the tab menu, and the sidebar responsive mechanism, while also introducing new signing-device modals and redesigned badges, cards, and amount components. Both the installer and the wallet itself benefit from these component-level changes throughout.
The goal across all of this was coherence: making every part of the interface feel like it belongs to the same product, with consistent spacing, sizing, and visual language. Button sizes in particular have been cleaned up with a clearer definition of primary, secondary, and tertiary actions.
A few specific improvements worth calling out:
Label-first address generation. The receive flow has been reworked so that you assign a label before generating an address, rather than after. Labels are most useful when set at the point of generation, before the address is shared with anyone. In Liana v15, entering a label is now required before an address can be generated.
Chunked address format. Bitcoin addresses are now displayed in chunks for better readability when verifying against a hardware wallet screen. Clicking on the address cycles through two chunk sizes, each matching the display format of different signing devices, and the original unchunked version, so you can always match what your device shows.
Address index moved to the verification step. The address index is no longer included in the “Show QR code” view and is instead shown at the address verification step. Previously, its presence in the QR could cause compatibility issues when scanning with certain wallets. Airgapped signing devices can still use it during the verification flow, where it belongs.
Copy button feedback. Copy buttons across the app now provide visual confirmation when clicked, removing a small but persistent moment of uncertainty.
Spinner on long descriptor load. When loading a complex descriptor in the installer, a spinner now appears to signal that the app is working, fixing a case where it could appear frozen.
⚙️ iced 0.14 and Rust 1.88
This release bumps the GUI framework to iced 0.14 and the Rust compiler to 1.88. These are significant infrastructure upgrades that touch a large portion of the codebase and pave the way for continued performance and compatibility improvements going forward.
🔧 Other Notable Fixes
- Spend warning reworded. The warning shown when a label is missing on a spend has been reworded to be clearer and less alarming.
- Consistent launcher wallet entry heights. A visual fix that makes the wallet list in the launcher look clean regardless of how many wallets are installed.
- Reproducible Windows build. Fixed by stripping the COFF symbol table, ensuring the Windows binary is reproducible across builds.
🏢 Liana Business v1.0: A Polished Release
This release cycle also marks an important milestone for Liana Business, which ships a polished v1.0 following months of development and early testing.
This version introduces a fully reworked installer for organizations: organization and wallet management, a spending-policy template builder, and key and signer management. It also integrates business settings, adds last-edit tracking on templates, and includes a Wizardsardine fiat price source.
Liana Business is designed for companies and teams that need to hold bitcoin collectively, with full coordination infrastructure for multi-participant transaction signing, shared labels, email notifications, seamless syncing, and a web dashboard for monitoring and oversight.
